Meet Kevin
Hello. I am Kevin Brackett, the Solicitor for the 16th Judicial Circuit. I am married to an incredible woman, Susan Brackett. She works in the Fort Mill School District helping kids figure out what they want to be when they grow up. Susan is the rock I stand on. I am also the father of an amazing daughter, Molly, aka, the Doodle, who is the sun who lights my day!
I am privileged to have been a prosecutor working for the people of the 16th Circuit for more than 30 years. 16 of those years have been as the elected leader of the most talented and dedicated team of professionals who commit themselves daily to protecting the citizens of York and Union. It is all I have ever wanted to do and all I intend to do in my career.
During my time in the office I have prosecuted thousands of homicides and other violent crimes. My office has run the most efficient docket in South Carolina for more than 25 years. I have been asked to lend my expertise to legislative panels in the South Carolina General Assembly as well as the United States Senate Judiciary Committee. I have lectured to prosecutors and judges here in South Carolina and all over the United States. I currently serve on the South Carolina Prosecution Commission and am a past Chairman. I also have the honor of representing South Carolina's prosecutors on the Board of the National District Attorney's Association.
I am announcing my intention to file for re-election as Solicitor for the 16th Circuit. If the voters honor me with another term, I commit to continue to work to keep their communities safe from crime. My team and I will finish the task of cleaning the docket of old cases that accrued during Covid and continue to innovate solutions to the pressing issues facing us such as the opioid epidemic and the impact of mental illness on the 
criminal justice system.
I will continue to work with our legislature to pursue policy initiatives that will improve the quality of our justice system by reforming how we select judges. I will continue to press for improvements in how we oversee offenders placed on probation to ensure that they either embrace rehabilitation or face incarceration.
We face so many challenges in criminal justice and I remain determined to find solutions and new ways to effectively meet those challenges. With a proven track record in and out of the courtroom I believe that I offer unmatched experience and insight that will continue to serve the citizens of York and Union well. I am grateful to have enjoyed your support these past 16 years and would be honored to have your continued support at the ballot box this year.
